A second year student in the MFA-Textile program Patricia’s medium remains in the threads of current events and time. Her work builds on a weaving loom using complex patterning with added manipulations, color changes and a three-dimensional aspect.
My work sits between the lines; with the historical baggage of domestic utilitarian usage as an artist who works with thread and its contemporary counterpart of simplistic pattern structures and or pictorial imagery. I am drawn to the line of not only the cloth but what direction the line of a thread takes as it moves over or interweaves to make the cloth speak. By stepping back, exploring materials systematically the work of the cloth tries to communicates a dynamic activation for both me the artist and you the viewer.
